SEKISUI is again one of the most sustainable companies in the world!

For the third time in a row, SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. has been ranked as one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World – in recognition of SEKISUI’s corporate sustainability performance based on the ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) factors.

Since 2005, the Canadian organisation “Corporate Knights” annually awards the 100 most sustainable companies in the world (Global 100). Corporate Knights Inc., based in Canada, includes a society magazine as well as a research division that produces rankings and financial product ratings based on corporate sustainability performance.

SEKISUI CHEMICAL was recognized for achievements in multiple evaluation criteria, including clean revenue, resource and clean air productivity, innovation capacity, safety and employee retention. The 2020 Global 100 was announced at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting held in Davos, Switzerland, from January 21 to 24.

Following 2008, 2009, 2018 and 2019 this is the third consecutive and fifth time overall that SEKISUI CHEMICAL has been included in this index. The inclusion is even more significant as ranked 12th, SEKISUI CHEMICAL is the highest ranked Japanese company among six Japanese companies. In 2020, approximately 7,400 companies were considered for the Global 100.

And this is not the only recognition SEKISUI CHEMICAL can be proud of. It has been highlighted as a global leader for its corporate climate action efforts by achieving a place on the CDP Climate Change A List for the second year in a row.

CDP is an international non-profit organization that drives companies and governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources, and protect forests. As of 2019, companies were requested to disclose their environmental data with CDP assessing this data and scoring companies from A to D – based on how they are tackling climate change, deforestation and water security. For 2019, 38 Japanese companies, including SEKISUI CHEMICAL, were selected as Climate Change A-List companies. The listing is recognition of SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group’s achievements in environmental practices.
