On 23 December – just before Christmas – SEKISUI S-Lec celebrated its 20th anniversary in Efteling, the largest theme park in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in Europe.
Every year at the beginning of spring, the cherry blossoms turn Japan upside down for a few weeks. While the whole country transforms into a pink-white sea of cherry blossoms, the Japanese celebrate the blooming with their families, friends and colleagues in the open air with a so-called Hanami.
Overall, there are three important things, if you are working in an intercultural environment like a European SEKISUI company. First of all, you must have business skills to represent your position. Then, you need local language skills and of course English language skills to understand your co-workers. And last but not least, you should own intercultural communication skills to interact successfully with everyone you’ll meet in your business. But how do you get these skills?
The annual SEKISUI KAIZEN Convention took place this year in January for the 52nd time. Together with global companions, the winner of the latest European KAIZEN convention presented his project in Kyoto, Japan.
“Doing more sports” is #1 on the list of New Year’s resolutions. So how about a little more swimming, cycling or running? The triathlon team of SEKISUI Alveo in Bad Sobernheim is definitely a good example for that. For the second time, a mixed relay took part in a triathlon competition last year – and the training for 2018 is already scheduled!
Javier Rojo from Sekisui Specialty Chemicals was the lucky winner of the Football Bet at the SEKISUI European Football Tournament 2017. He handed over the cheque with the prize money of 430 EUR to the non-profit organisation of his choice: “AFANOC – Ninos con cancer”.
It was THE highlight for every KAIZEN team this year: The representatives of the European SEKISUI companies met for the 7th European KAIZEN convention in Düsseldorf, Germany. The teams from various sites competed against each other and presented their improvement activities to reinforce company structure and business performance.
