Overall, there are three important things, if you are working in an intercultural environment like a European SEKISUI company. First of all, you must have business skills to represent your position. Then, you need local language skills and of course English language skills to understand your co-workers. And last but not least, you should own intercultural communication skills to interact successfully with everyone you’ll meet in your business. But how do you get these skills?

Global KAIZEN Convention in Japan
The annual SEKISUI KAIZEN Convention took place this year in January for the 52nd time. Together with global companions, the winner of the latest European KAIZEN convention presented his project in Kyoto, Japan.
Video: Highlights of the Global Children’s Eco Summit 2017
Last summer, 47 SEKISUI employees’ children with high environmental awareness – including 10 European participants – met in Narita near Tokyo to get a deeper understanding for the significance of nature. The 7-day-event offered the participants a wide range of different activities e.g. there were guided tours of group business facilities and they learned about biodiversity and scarcity. Finally the children presented recommendations for a better environment and President Koge promised to take these ideas into a declaration regarding environment protection. In July 2017 the switches at the bridge “Haus-Knipp-Rheinbrücke” in Duisburg, Germany, were renovated with the technology of SEKISUI FFU® synthetic wood.
SEKISUI S-Lec’s new Career Development Programme
In October 2016, SEKISUI conducted a survey under its employees to learn about their needs and wishes. Over 22,000 people, including thirteen different languages, took part in the survey. Based on the results of the survey SEKISUI S-Lec established a new career programme for its employees.
The SEKISUI Vision Caravan stopped by in Germany
In November 2017, the SEKISUI Vision Caravan stopped by in Düsseldorf, Germany. The event took place to present the new Mid-Term Management Plan “SHIFT 2019 – FUSION” from top management to employees in management roles. None other than SEKISUI Chemical President & CEO Teiji Koge and Director & Managing Executive Officer Yoshiyuki Hirai gave deeper insights into the mid-term vision and the idea behind FUSION as part of the corporate philosophy.

“Doing more sports” is #1 on the list of New Year’s resolutions. So how about a little more swimming, cycling or running? The triathlon team of SEKISUI Alveo in Bad Sobernheim is definitely a good example for that. For the second time, a mixed relay took part in a triathlon competition last year – and the training for 2018 is already scheduled!
Javier Rojo donates Football Bet prize money to “AFANOC – Ninos con cancer”
Javier Rojo from Sekisui Specialty Chemicals was the lucky winner of the Football Bet at the SEKISUI European Football Tournament 2017. He handed over the cheque with the prize money of 430 EUR to the non-profit organisation of his choice: “AFANOC – Ninos con cancer”.
