SEKISUI opened its first Safety House in Europe, located in Roermond, Netherlands. Since June 17th, 2015 the companies SEKISUI Alveo AG, SEKISUI S-Lec B.V. and SEKISUI Eslon B.V. are training employees on safety.
The Safety House was officially opened by Mr. Kato, President of High Performance Plastics Company, in the presence of several guests like Mr. Shimizu, Division Manger, Foam Division and Mr. Asano, Division Manager, Interlayer Film Division. SEKISUI Alveo, SEKISUI S-Lec and SEKISUI Eslon collaborated on this special project which had been initiated to increase general safety awareness. The main section of the interactive training explains and demonstrates potential dangers when working with special devices. The Safety House offers two teaching spaces: one for theoretical courses, the other one for practical exercises. Split into small groups, employees learn about risky situations during work on customized training machines, e.g. press roll machine, spindle with grease, helmet testing or solvent and dust explosion.
As a global organization SEKISUI attaches great importance to its employees safety and welfare, as well as their protection during everyday work. At the European KAIZEN Meeting in 2013, the idea came up to built a Safety House in Roermond, which is available for all SEKISUI companies based in Roermond. SEKISUI Alveo made the location available and also provided furniture, SEKISUI S-Lec invested in the machines. Instructors of all three companies prepared the safety instructions and training. The biggest challenge was to build safe machines that are still able to demonstrate unsafe situations. A supplier took this challenge and made machines within the CE- directives. From now on, every new employee starting work at SEKISUI Alveo, SEKISUI S-Lec or SEKISUI Eslon gets a safety instruction at the Safety House. Since the opening 328 employees have been trained in the Safety House.
