SEKISUI at K: A perfect place to connect

This year’s edition of K fair in Düsseldorf marked a special occasion for our family: Organized by SEKISUI Europe B.V., the European companies came together to showcase their portfolio on a unified stand.

The K is held every three years in Düsseldorf. It is the most important trade fair for plastics and ruber worldwide. 3.285 exhibitors welcomed over 230.000 visitors from 160 countries at their booths. The perfect opportunity for SEKISUI to bundle the forces of our European companies to welcome clients and prospects, as well as partners at our SEKISUI booth.

A unified appearance

For the first time, the booth and its contents have been designed andorganized centrally by SEKISUI Europe B.V. together with International Business Department from High Performance Plastics (HPP) Company. On 126 sqm our European companies had been giving room to showcase their product portfolios increasing awareness of SEKISUI within the industry. Current clients had the chance to inform themselves about additional business segments of the group. A SEKISUI corporate design optimized for the European market allowed our European companies to present themselves under the corporate brand umbrella. Due to the consistent appearance the presentation of companies’ product portfolios were more tangible. Business clients visiting the SEKISUI booth had a chance to connect with experts from each company, learn about the overall portfolio of SEKISUI in Europe, and got into talks over showcased products independent of company or business units.

Connecting with colleagues

Besides, the K fair trade gave SEKISUI peoples the opportunity to connect with colleagues from different European companies at the booth. Thus, they got a deeper knowledge of the particular field of expertise by every SEKISUI company. Exchange over product portfolio, individual knowledge and internal processes allowed all colleagues to get a broader understanding among our employees. In addition, colleagues who used K show for market research or to inform themselves about the latest developments in their respective fields came by the booth as “internal visitors”.

Versatility in offered solutions

And there were many things to experience on the booth: SEKISUI S-Lec presented their answer to a future with augmented reality-solutions in mobility. The Interlayer Luminous PVB film allows to displayinformation and visuals on any screen or window of a car. In addition, SEKISUI SPI presented their KYDEX® Thermoplastics, manufactured for the aviation and mass transit industry. The multi-coloured sheets with low heat-release add comfort to interior components for the traveller and are used e.g. for seat shells. The pioneering power of SEKISUI extends to railways, too: A special rail technology showed how noise is reduced in train travel, a product already being in use in over 80 km of German railway tracks. The Research & Development Centers displayed a selection of current key developments on the SEKISUI booth as well and investigated potential application fields and respective market demands.

Amid the need for solutions that consider the impact on the environment and human health, SEKISUI has developed successfully aC-PVC compound, Durastream™, for the production of pipes and fittings. Their resistance to heat and corrosion along with allowing faster construction times makes regular cast-iron and plastic pipes obsolete. SEKISUI Fi-Block® for fire doors and pipe penetration emphasizes safety through good product design as well. Intelligent strips and wraps prevent the spread of fire by expension when heated.

Successful in different aspects

In conclusion, K in Düsseldorf was a huge success on different levels. The showcase of SEKISUI was accepted very well among the visitors, leading to new contacts. Many bonds have been tied, and it will be exciting to see it again when the next K in October 2019 opens it gates.
