For the 53rd time, the Global KAIZEN Convention took place in Kyoto, Japan. At the end of January, representatives from all over the world met and presented their KAIZEN project. Among them: Pedro Soler from SEKISUI Specialty Chemicals, who won the European KAIZEN Convention in 2018.
Interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds is an important part of everyday working life – especially when being employed in a global company like SEKISUI. Not only language skills but also habits and behavior play a major role when meeting colleagues. Based on different communication styles encounters can often be complicated or cause a clash of different perceptions and expectations. In order to help employees from European companies to improve their intercultural competences, SEKISUI offered an intercultural communication workshop last week.
With the construction of a new production plant for thermal interface materials for environmentally friendly vehicles SEKISUI is expanding its business in Europe. The plant operations are planned to start in spring of 2020 – the construction was started with a ground-breaking ceremony on February 4th.

SEKISUI Diagnostics in Kent, GB, had chosen a tough challenge for this year: during one week in October 2018, it was time to say goodbye to useless plastic products.
Giving a special gift for Christmas. This is what Xavier In de Braek wanted to do this year. As the winner of this year’s SEKISUI European Football Tournament Bet he was able to do just that. On November 29th he handed over a check of € 430 to his chosen organization “Spieren voor Spieren”.
Innovative projects aiming at the continuous improvement of SEKISUI. This is the focus of KAIZEN. On November 21st, representatives from different European companies met in Tarragona, Spain, and competed against each other at the 8th European KAIZEN convention. Successfully hosted by SEKISUI Specialty Chemicals, the event allowed eight European teams to present their improvement activities to reinforce company structure and business performance.
