SEKISUI S-Lec celebrates its first pensioner

Since 1997, SEKISUI S-Lec is producing Interlayer Luminous PVB film in Roermond, Netherlands. In recent years, the team in Roermond expanded and became very close and familiar. As the first ever retirement was happening this year, the colleagues organized something very special for Frans Rosbender, who left the company after working at SEKISUI S-Lec for over a decade as Assistant Operator.

Time to say goodbye…

After 21 years of existence, SEKISUI S-Lec celebrated its first ever pensioner this year. At the age of 66, Frans Rosbender left the company for his retirement. He was a popular member of the S-Lec team and deserved something special for his farewell day.

On his last working day, Frans was picked up at home with a taxi and was chauffeured to the plant – together with his children and grandchildren. The farewell celebration started at a meeting room and the whole family could listen to speeches and anecdotes from Frans’ close colleagues.

Knock off work forever

In order to complete his last shift, a plant tour was organised, so Frans was able to show his children and grandchildren the usual tasks as Assistant Operator at SEKISUI S-Lec. For one last time, Frans operated the machines and taught his family about his responsibilities.

Surprise, surprise!

After that, it was time to add some fun to Frans’ last working day – in the form of ice cream!

A few years ago, Frans told Henry Jaspers, Assistant Manager Production Department at SEKISUI S-Lec, that he would start an ice cream truck opposite the plant after his retirement. His colleagues took this joke seriously, prepared him for his time as retiree in the best way and let him offer ice cream to the team.

It was a sweet surprise for Frans and everyone working at the plant.

Let’s see – maybe one day in the next years, Frans will come back to the plant with his own ice cream truck!
