From 23rd to 28th of April the SEKISUI SQUASH OPEN took place at Sportpark Pilatus in Kriens, Switzerland. For the seventh time professionals and hobby players were participating in this sport challenge and competed for an attractive prize money.
From 23rd to 28th of April top squash players from all over the world competed in the SEKISUI OPEN 2018. For the first time, two events took place at the same time. The men’s and women’s tournaments were held simultaneously; both played in the category “PSA Challenger 10”. In total, participants from 19 different nations participated – including five top 100 male players and ten top 100 female players. They did their very best to secure important points for the international ranking. But not only the professionals were highly motivated: At the tournament weekend, there were also 2 recreational tournaments for amateurs without a license.

After an exciting final game filled with speed and flexibility, Edmon Lopez Moller made it to the top of the podium. SEKISUI Europe Managing Director, Hiroshi Kobayashi, attended the finals, congratulated the winner and awarded this outstanding performance. Runner-up Mohamed Reda also received a prize from him.
In total, a prize money of $ 20,000 were given to the players at the tournament; with $ 10,000 to the winners of the men’s and women’s tournament.

Time to relax and celebrate
Teams and players were involved in the tournament for almost a whole week. Therefore it was time to celebrate the successful event after the award ceremony. During this, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Managing Director of SEKISUI Europe, appreciated the sportsmanship and the fair play of the squash heroes. He emphasised how thankful and proud SEKISUI is to be the sponsoring partner for the squash tournament and thanked the organizational committee and everyone else involved.

SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO. Ltd., has committed itself to a sponsoring programme of the tournament from 2012 to 2020 as a contribution to the local community and to the promotion of squash sport in Europe. As a Japanese company, SEKISUI also supports the tournament in view of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
