At the beginning of February, the time had come again: The QESH manager of all SEKISUI companies met to talk about current environment activities in Europe and learn about the current environmental plans and how to implement them from Japanese colleagues. This year, the event was hosted by SEKISUI Diagnostics in the UK. Together with the Environmental Management Group the company prepared an interesting and diverse two-day program at their site in Kent.
Innovative projects aiming at the continuous improvement of SEKISUI. This is the focus of KAIZEN. On November 21st, representatives from different European companies met in Tarragona, Spain, and competed against each other at the 8th European KAIZEN convention. Successfully hosted by SEKISUI Specialty Chemicals, the event allowed eight European teams to present their improvement activities to reinforce company structure and business performance.
At SEKISUI Environment Week, employees and families contribute to environmental causes around their plant. Sekisui Specialty Chemicals in Tarragona, Spain, combined the local activity with an environment training for all participants. From October 5th to October 7th, the time had finally come: the third SEKISUI European Football Tournament was held in Salou, Spain. This year’s edition was once again marked by great team spirit but also fierce competition. Nevertheless, the Spanish team managed to defend its title against the Dutch Team Mepke. The players had to wait until the penalty shoot-out to cheer though.
The Paris Agreement by UNCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) marks a new course in the global climate effort: For the first time ever, all nations were brought into a common cause to undertake ambitious efforts to combat climate change and adapt to its effects. The Science Based Targets (“SBT”) Initiative is a collaborative effort between various environmental organizations to recognize the companies making efforts to counteract climate change.
