Innovative projects aiming at the continuous improvement of SEKISUI. This is what KAIZEN is about. On November 19th, representatives from different European companies met in Vlodrop near Roemond, the Netherlands, and competed against each other at the 9th European KAIZEN convention. The event allowed six European teams to present their improvement activities to reinforce company structure and business performance.
SEKISUI employees from all offices have the possibility to participate in this year’s European Football Tournament by betting on one team for a charitable purpose (for free). The prize money will go to a local non-profit organization of the winner’s choice.
As a group of companies, SEKISUI in Europe provides a vast array of innovative products and services, engages around 1,000 diverse employees and combines the strength of various great companies. One of these companies is SEKISUI Diagnostics – with William Stockburn as Vice President and General Manager of the Enzyme Business in Europe. We met him for a personal interview and asked him about the company’s business as well as the importance of the cooperation amongst the SEKISUI companies in Europe.
“Bye-bye Pfungstadt, hello Darmstadt!”, said the employees of SEKISUI Diagnostics GmbH mid of March. They moved from their old office in Pfungstadt to to a new office in Darmstadt. Germany’s largest airport, Frankfurt, is now so close that the new office can be reached quickly by international guests and employees.
At the beginning of February, the time had come again: The QESH manager of all SEKISUI companies met to talk about current environment activities in Europe and learn about the current environmental plans and how to implement them from Japanese colleagues. This year, the event was hosted by SEKISUI Diagnostics in the UK. Together with the Environmental Management Group the company prepared an interesting and diverse two-day program at their site in Kent.

Successfully hosted by SEKISUI Specialty Chemicals, the event allowed eight European teams to present their improvement activities to reinforce company structure and business performance.
